CFRB/iHeart Net Goes Live After 7 PM Because Of Ukraine Invasion

It took a major event to get the morning rerolls off the air, but CFRB and its iHeart Radio Network actually had live programming after 7 PM Thursday.

Mark Towhey, who has a miliitary background, hosted several hours of programming about Russia's invasion of Ukraine, replacing the normal repeats of RB's John Moore, CFRA's Bill Carroll and CJAD's Elias Makos shows. Wish they'd consider making that timeslot live in a more permanent way. It's been vacant since Jamil Jivani was shown the door earlier this year.

I tune in and out of several stations during the evening. I just came across Mark Towhey on RB saying, "You can check out Jamil Jivani on Twitter to see where he stands." I did a literal double take. What in the world could have brought that up? And why would you refer on air to a guy who's been publicly pillorying your station and its owners on the web for the past two months?

Anyone hear what happened before this statement? What brought up Jivani in the first place? Man, what a surreal radio moment.

More importantly, we simply MUST have the PR community's analysis of this complex situation.
