Hot mic incidents

Has this ever happened in Ontario?

This morning Global BC’s morning news had someone off-camera make a disparaging remark about one of their sponsors while they were heading into commercial break - obviously unaware that their mic was on. I’m not naming the person (as I’m not sure who it was) or the advertiser.

I can’t say I ever remember something similar happening on radio or TV in Ontario, but I’m interested in stories if there are any.

The Phil MacKellar incident comes to mind. Here's a detailed look at what happened.

Re: Hot mic incidents

Avery Haines also had a hot mic moment. She was fired, but eventually returned to CTV where she was promoted to management.

Re: Hot mic incidents

The current president of the U.S. was apparently caught calling a Fox News employee a 'stupid son of a bitch'.

Sometimes statements of fact can still cause a stir.
