One Arrives At CTV Toronto, Another Leaves GNR640

Two items of note from Broadcast Dialogue's very informative "Weekly Briefing" newsletter.

It appears CTV Toronto may have finally solved most of its seemingly endless weather forecaster shortages, with the news that Jessica Smith has now permanently relocated to Toronto. She'll do weekend weather on Channel 9, while also working for their digital department during the rest of the week, concentrating on social media.

Smith is the second person poached from CTV Kitchener, after they hired Lyndsey Morrison away to do forecasts, following the termination of Anwar Knight and Tom Brown early last year. Morrison remains on mat leave and should be back eventually.

Not sure what happened to Saron Fanel, who was filling in on the weekend weathercasts as kind of an afterthought. (She never seemed completely comfortable doing it and she was never in-set.) Her Linked-In page still has her working at CTV News, but it also lists her as a Communications Specialist for George Brown College, a gig that's listed as fulltime.

Meanwhile, Dave Woodard, one of the former "Daves" contingent from the old CFRB days, has left GNR640's newsroom for Corus' sister station, CHML in Hamilton.
