He's been the voice of the evening weekday newscasts on 640 for years. But on Thursday night, he made headlines of his own, appearing one last time to say goodbye to Alex Pierson and the audience, announcing he would be moving on to "a sports gig." There was no elaboration on exactly what that meant.
Daryn Boland was a unique character on local airwaves because, while he delivered his newscast in a flawless Canadian dialect, off air he actually has a Scottish brogue so thick you could cut it with a haggis. He occasionally appeared on air over the years in his real voice and it was stunning to hear the difference.
No word on who will be taking his place. But Claude Feig is kind of wasted on the weekends. Any chance he could take over the shift fulltime?

Thanks for the correction. I've made the change. Do you know where he's going? Is it an on air gig?
