This is terrible news. My best friend was diagnosed with MS over 30 years ago and has been going downhill ever since. He's been in a wheelchair for decades, can no longer see out of one eye, can't use his hands anymore and is plagued by endless exhaustion, as well as a kind of brain fog. And that's just a few of the symptoms.

There is almost no medication that will help or has helped, and he will never get better. A few weeks ago, he informed me he would be applying for MAID - medical assistance in dying. He knows his life will only get worse and he simply does not want to put himself or his family through it any longer. He's a still young 64.

I don't know which form King has - there's two kinds, with progressive being the worst - but I can only hope he somehow avoids my friend's terrible and now soon-to-be-fatal fate.
