Howard Cable, the Canadian composer has died at age 93.

He composed the original Hockey Night in Canada "The Saturday Game" theme in the 50's.

Unfortunately, when Classical 96 reported this tonight they used "The Hockey Theme" by Dolores Claman under the entire report, which wasn't used until 1968. After doing a search I discovered that Cable arranged a recording of Claman's theme, but listening to Classical 96 I was left with the impression that they got the two mixed up.
