Come October 18th, all of Rogers' news/talk stations will get new positioners.
-CFTR/Toronto(680 News)will become CityNews 680.
-CKGL/Kitchener, Ont.(570 News)will become CityNews 570.
-CKWB/Vancouver(News 1130)will become CityNews 1130.
-CJNI/Halifax(News 95.7)will become CityNews 95.7 . (This despite City having no presence at all in the Halifax market.)

Anyone else think they should've worded it as "680 CityNews" instead of "CityNews 680"
That way you're only adding "city" within your existing branding, and it retains the "680 ____ News" order.
Agree/disagree???
I agree 100%

Think about time check for a second.
"680 CityNews time..." or CityNews 680 News time..."
So now they have to say the word news twice.
Outside of that, I don't really think it matters all that much.

There's no Citynews Ottawa TV either, but they have a Citynews 1310.

More than likely, they will just say "CityNews time.." when doing time checks.. Anything outside of that gets clunky no matter where the frequency is. I just don't think listeners care that much if it's 680 CityNews or CityNews 680. They are more about the news they are listening to 680 for.

I FORGOT to add Calgary's CFFR(660 News)to this list; it'll become CityNews 660.
And I agree with Torontostan; having it be (dial position)CityNews instead of CityNews(dial position)would work better. But that's what Rogers went with, for better or worse.

I doubt that very much.
Saying the frequency is very important to separate themselves from their ALL NEWS RADIO wheel.
Question is, for timeslots (mainly overnight) where they're using all news radio, will that also change to be CityNews radio? Or will it still be All news radio on Citynews? (or what?)

Directly, no, but CITY-TV does have a transmitter in Ottawa.
And, as noted earlier, Halifax has NO City station in the market.

"A" Channel Ottawa should have gone to Rogers & become City TV Ottawa instead of the CTV 2 it became with Bell.

Will this lead to an improvement in their content?

Depends on which Citynews you speak of & whether or not the content will be local or Canada wide.
680 will hopefully continue to be a news wheel, but for the stations with talk content, CityNews 1310 might be an example of what to expect.

570 in Kitchener & 95.7 in Halifax do much the same...all news in AM & PM drive, talk in other dayparts(95.7 carries CBS Sports Radio, and is also the home for the QMJHL's Halifax Mooseheads; 570 News is on the Blue Jays network and also carries CBS Sports Radio).
