Thursday marks Dave Agar’s last day in radio and final day at CFRB. He’s been on the air at various Ontario stations for more than five decades. Expect to hear a lot of tributes and stories in what will actually be a fairly unusual morning show. It’s common to pay tribute to the host of the AM driver – think Jay Nelson, Wally Crouter, Don Daynard and Mike Cooper’s last shows – but it’s rare this much attention is paid to a news guy.
John Moore has promised lots of stories and lots of ‘giving Dave a hard time.’ Should be an interesting morning.

I was impressed by Mike Stafford, who paid an hour-long tribute to Dave Agar during his 11 AM segment Thursday, couching it in a "who mentored you" topic. But a lot of it ended up being about radio anyway, and it was quite entertaining.
Agar and Stafford worked together at CKFM, and while he made it clear the idea to hire Mike came from upstairs, they wound up being fast friends as well as colleagues.
It's unusual to hear one radio station pay tribute to someone from another, but - without mentioning any call letters or branding - Stafford did a nice job honouring a longtime Toronto radio veteran.
