OMNI Cuts Ties With Arabic Language Show After Anti-Semitic Rhetoric

One of the problems with foreign language shows is you don't always know what they're saying. In this case, an Arabic language program that had been airing in the past on Rogers-owned OMNI was making baseless statements that the alleged perpetrator of that terrible London, Ont. killing of four members of a Muslim family was Jewish. It's been demonstrably proven he wasn't, though his surname sounds like it.

Not only didn't that deter this group, they doubled down on it in a series of ridiculous Tweets. Worse yet, they did it in English!

B'nai Brith issued a complaint about the show and its people and now Rogers insists it will never work with the group again.

Re: OMNI Cuts Ties With Arabic Language Show After Anti-Semitic Rhetoric

Sadly, it was Gary Bell that put himself under the microscope, not B'nai Brith. The comments that caused his troubles came out of his mouth - not anyone else's.  Still, it's a shame his career ended the way it did. Given the way things are today, he probably should have thought first before making the pronouncements that got him thrown off the air.

He died much too soon at just 69 years of age and I've often wondered if the stress of getting canned and embroiled in this controversy had anything to do with it.
