Death Of St Elsewhere Star At 106 Ends An Amazing Showbiz Career

He worked with Charlie Chaplin, John Houseman, Orson Welles and Alfred Hitchcock. Just to name a few. And that was early in a career that would last more than a century. The terrific Norman Lloyd, best known as Dr. Auschlander in the great TV medical drama St. Elsewhere and as the headmaster in the Dead Poet's Society, has passed away.

I almost said "finally passed away." That's because he made it to a remarkable 106 years old, with his last on-screen appearance in 2015, when he was 100!

Talk about a guy who spanned the entire history of modern showbiz. He entered the industry on the stage, moved onto radio when it was just starting, then conquered movies and finally TV. Wow. Now, THAT'S an incredible showbiz career and I honestly can't see anyone beating that record.

Norman Lloyd, Saboteur, Dead Poets Society and St. Elsewhere actor, dies at 106

I wonder if Betty White will be this lucky?
