CKOO (Soft 103.9) was one of the few radio stations to actually close in Canada because of COVID and the advertising fall out from the pandemic. That's pretty quick. Consider the years it has taken for the owners of 1220 Grapevine to "launch" and they're still in "test"mode. And just consider, CKOO-FM, Kelowna was shut down a year ago.
Probably the difference between a professional broadcaster and immigration consultants (lol)

The new owner, Paul Larsen is a smart guy and a solid broadcaster. He successfully applied for licenses in Medicine Hat and Cranbrook, they did quite well and he eventually sold them. From what I understand his plan is to do a soft rock format similar to The Breeze.

CKOV (The Lake 103.9) in Kelowna BC did sign on the air today at exactly 10:39 local time, less than a year after Soft 103.9 went off the air. It's all music for the next few weeks and then the station will introduce on air staff, news and community coverage. More from Castanet.net...
