Perth’s Lake 88 FM sold to Renfrew’s My Broadcasting Corporation

Looks like another locally produced community radio station disappearing?

Yes, and it is also a community station in that it's locally owned, operated, staffed, and targeted, which I'm pretty sure is what splunge meant, not its CRTC designation.

I think My Broadcasting Corp.  has been after Lake 88 for awhile.

We don't live in a commercial.
Kindly stop mixing up community radio with commercial radio. Thanks.
Community radio is listener supported.

Sorry guys! 🙁 I had no idea which was which (community or commercial). Very disappointed with the responses!

I have made the exact same error in the past too Scorpio42.  The lines between community and commercial stations are blurring.  Many of the newer community stations in fact are now supported by commercials and sound more or less like regular stations.  Other than getting into some specialty programming later in the evening or weekend, many sound like any other station.  The nice thing about the Perth station being sold is the fact that it was purchased by a well run independent operator who has had a lot of success with smaller stations in towns and  cities.  So because of this the future for Lake 88 FM in Perth is likely pretty good.
