Last week, as the riots at the Capitol consumed the American networks, none of the regularly scheduled shows aired when they were supposed to. This apparently caught City TV by surprise, as it showed a new episode of "Chicago Med," only to realize in the last segment that it wasn't being simulcast.
And in one of the dumbest decisions of the year in TV and a real disservice to its viewers, the station pulled the last 15 minutes and finished off the quarter hour with a rerun, leaving those watching hanging.
So here's a warning to the idiots who pulled that stunt: Chicago Med will definitely not air next Wednesday. That's the day Joe Biden is bring sworn in, and with COVID making a big party impossible, the major over-the-air networks will be airing a star studded primetime special called "Celebrating America" instead.
It will air on NBC, CBS and ABC, but pointedly not on Fox. CNN & MSNBC will also have the show - but Fox News won't be taking it, although it will stream the broadcast.
So hopefully City will find something else to put on instead of interrupting in mid-Med. A new Chicago PD, however, is scheduled to air, since the special ends at 10 PM. That's providing everything goes as planned and there's no violence that night. In which case, all bets - and all shows - are off.

Actually since COVID has made minced meat out of prime time for all networks, simulcasts are way down from normal. Some evenings there hasn't been a lot of simulcasting. What City did with Chicago Med however was pretty stupid.
