Former City TV Court Sketch Artist Reveals A Surprising Dark History

You may not know the name Marianne Boucher but for several decades, she was the court sketch artist for City TV's CityPulse and later CityNews, drawing the pictures that told the story of court cases where cameras were not allowed. I've run into her over the years and she struck me as a very level headed, intelligent and talented artist, and an extremely nice lady.

But according to a story in the Toronto Star, she was hiding a dark secret in her past - she had once found herself a member of the Rev. Moon cult, without any way or desire to escape. Those who worked at City and knew her may find her story astounding. But it's ultimately a tale of will over brainwashing and true to her artistic talents, she tells it in a new graphic novel.

It's a pretty amazing story she's kept secret - until now.

Marianne Boucher has spent decades sketching trauma as a courtroom artist. So a graphic memoir was ‘the only way’ to tell the story of her time in a cult
