Larry Stout also worked on CBC and later CTV. He was one of the original anchors on CTV News 1 (now CTV News Channel) when it launched in 1997.

The great George Burns, who lived to be 100, used to say he scanned the obituaries in the paper every morning. If his name wasn't in there, he'd get up and have breakfast.

NBC News did a really nice In Memoriam segment on their newscast before the New Year. It's almost seven minutes long and includes some of the biggest names in music and entertainment. There's not a single second of narration and it looks like it took days or even weeks to put together. A really nicely done piece.
