This was discussed in another thread, but I thought it was significant enough that it deserved its own notice. I'm taking Grilled.Cheese's word for this, but this poster often seems to have a pretty good grip on what's going on at Corus.
According to G.C., Mike Stafford is due to return to the 640 airwaves on Monday, Nov. 9th. It will be the first time he'll be back on the air since he broke his neck in a painting accident last July.
I hope it's true and that he's ready to get back into the battle. An injury like that can be devastating and IIRC, he already had a number of serious back issues, which I'm sure this didn't help.
Fortunately, he didn't hurt his mouth, which is what he uses to make his living!
So far, I haven't heard anything on 640 about his imminent return and as noted, it's not yet officially confirmed. (Attempts to reach anyone who would know at Corus were unsuccessful, since almost everyone's working from home and are not at their regular extensions. But I tried!) If this is the plan, I would hope they promote it, because I'm sure I won't be the only one interested to hear what he'll have to say about his experience and his prolonged exposure to our health care system in the middle of a pandemic.

Finally some good news in the midst of all this COVID craziness.

This update sure does deserve its own thread RadioActive. To put it mildly, this is terrific news. Thanks RA and grilled.cheese.
640 may not be promoting Stafford's return and his first show to keep the whole thing low key and unpressured.
He probably knows many of us were and are pulling for his recovery and if possible his return to the airwaves.
The tail end of 2020 will be less grey and grim with him back in front of the mic.

Just a reminder that Stafford is back on 640 Monday morning, for the first time since the accident.
Further confirmation - I noticed Greg Brady was back doing his live Saturday morning show this weekend, for the first time since he took over weekday mornings from the ailing talk show veteran.
A lot has happened in the world since Mike's been gone. It will be interesting to hear what he has to say about it all - and his experience of trying to recover from a broken neck in the middle of a pandemic.

I woke up just after 3 am. and I realize Stafford is probably waking up right about now (assuming he was able to sleep) to get ready for his first show back. What an ungodly time to have to start functioning, walking, talking and eventually driving to your place of work ... Midnights, swing or mornings, there's a thread for another day on which is the toughest physically.
Looking forward to hearing Mike back on the air.

First thing I did on waking up Monday was to turn on 640. No offence to him, but I've never been so disappointed to hear Greg Brady's voice! What happened to Stafford? Not sure, but I wonder if Grilled.Cheese has an answer as to why he wasn't back as we thought.

Any word on when he might be back? Will it be this week? Did he explain the reason for the change?
