Basketball reporter and analyst Doris Burke, who often is a guest on Tim and Sid on Sportsnet has been named to call the NBA Finals.
This is a first for the league and shows a commitment to honouring diversity and inclusion, plus, she's top notch at what she does and knows her basketball stuff!
Here is more on the story...
What is your take on this, is this the start of real change in sports media or is it purely optics and the flavour of the summer news events we've had?
Chime in and share.
Oh and have a good day too!
Here's a little basketball humour for all of us that grew up in the 70's...a little Cheech and Chong!
It's real. She didn't get the call because she's a woman. She got it because she's widely regarded as one of the best basketball analysts out there and happens to be a woman. She played the game in college at an extremely high level and has been broadcasting basketball for 30 years.
Jessica Mendoza does baseball for ESPN and is excellent as well after being one of the best players in the history of women's softball.

Burke is good in the booth, Mendoza is awful. She’s there mainly because of her gender(sorry to say). In fact, ESPN’s baseball booth has been a trainwreck the past few years.
Remember when Pam Ward called college football games? Absolutely brutal.
