Legendary U.S. Radio Station Celebrates 100th Anniversary On Air

It's not one we grew up with here, but KNX in Los Angeles is celebrating a century of broadcasting and - unlike CFRB, which ignored its own 90th anniversary a few years ago - is trumpeting the occasion on air. They're running an 8-part series of five minute audio reports about the origins and history of the place, which is still on air and was one of the first all news stations on the west coast.

The specials are not geoblocked and all eight parts (four are up so far) can be heard here.

Re: Legendary U.S. Radio Station Celebrates 100th Anniversary On Air

WWJ-AM(Newsradio 950)in Detroit just turned 100 on August 20th. KDKA-AM in Pittsburgh will turn 100 on November 2nd.

In our neck of the woods, WBEN turned 90 a few days ago(but in actuality, its existence goes back even further to 1922). And yes, it did get mentioned on air.

Just one more thing: All parts of the KNX special are available(PLUS a KNX jingle from the 1980s).
