You have to hand it to the people at CFRB – they seem to always find ways to grab onto some major specialists who then become exclusive to the station – including Tom Mulcair, the former NDP leader who’s one of their political experts or Mike McCormack, the now ex-leader of the police union to comment on matters concerning the cops.
 
The latest example gets a permanent position on their airwaves next Tuesday, when Jamil Jivani graduates to his own show on NT1010. If you don’t know the name, he has quite an amazing history, including getting a law degree from Yale and being appointed a special advisor to the Premier of Ontario. He did fill-in during the endless musical chairs vacation period on the station this summer and management was impressed enough to give him his own program.
 
It will air weeknights at 10 PM, which leads to the question: what happens to Jon Pole? He’s been hosting that time slot for several years, going local after doing a show two hours earlier for CJAD in Montreal.
 
Does this mean his presence disappears from CFRB? Or will he be assigned somewhere else? Or perhaps he’ll go back to his day job – co-founder and boss of the MyFM network. I've always wondered how he has time to do so many other things when he's running 21 radio stations across Ontario.
