Woloshyn on "the simple onion"

Anyone else scratching their heads about the Ted Woloshyn-voiced onion ad running lately on NT 1010?

I understand agricultural spots where there is a marketing board, like for eggs, dairy, pork. I don't think there is an onion board however, and this ad appears to be paid for by an onion farm. I wonder how big their market share is, since surely almost no one beyond the small number of people who shop at boutique farmers markets pays enough attention to the names of the farms that their produce comes from.

It seems to me they would essentially be paying to market onion consumption for all producers not just themselves.

Mainly consumers who prefer to avoid a dose of salmonella with their side of onion rings
