Another Streaming Service Coming & You'll Be Surprised Who's Behind It

Just when you were sure there couldn't possibly be anything else to pay for comes this: a new streaming service from PBS, of all entities, that aggregates all their great documentaries. The aptly named "PBS Documentaries Channel" will show familiar programs like American Masters, Nova, Nature and Frontline, but also all those famous Ken Burns documentaries.

It costs $3.99 a month, but there's a catch - you have to be a member of Amazon Prime to get it, at least initially.

There's no word on whether Canadians will be able to access the service, which debuts August 4th. And there's also no mention of what happens to all those shows that were available for free on PBS affiliate websites, which has been the pattern for years.

The only good news? No Goldie Gardner-types to interrupt each show for 25 minutes, begging for you to send in money.

These are shows that I enjoy watching more than once.  I am not optimistic about future Canadian access.
