If Baseball Returns, The Fan's Wilner & Wagner Won't Be On The Road

The new rules have come out and all teams' announcers will have to stay home, forced to call the games remotely off of a monitor God help them if the signal goes out...

MLB's TV, radio broadcasters would be grounded from road games to start 2020 season

Not if. When.
A power outage is indeed possible, but (I'm guessing) they'll most likely have a back up generator anyway.

They work for Rogers. If the signal goes out they can easily access the other team's broadcast.

Sadly many announcers watch a monitor to call the game even in normal times. Not many actually watch the actual field of play.

I seem to recall Rogers making their hockey broadcasters call some mid-week Leafs road games from a Toronto studio monitor;  in past years.  Reports at the time indicated the unpopular (to put it mildly) move was one of many SN budget driven inititives.

Again, thinking like a REGULAR viewer, if the announcers didn't mention they were in the Honeymoon suite at the Niagara Falls Motel By-The-Hour, wearing a hospital gown and Hell's Angels leather assless chaps calling the game from their Milton Bradley Easy Bake Tv Monitor, would they care? A good annoucer, preforming their job properly, is as good, if not better than being in a cold stadium.
