G'bye AM in Germany and France

[Via ARRL]

While AM broadcasters struggle to survive, in some countries, the battle is over: ARRL reports that all remaining German AM (MW) stations will shut down at year's end, ending a process that has been going for since the end of 2014. Radio France is also slated for shuttering, saying listener numbers have become "marginal."

Re: G'bye AM in Germany and France

In the mid-70's Warren Cosford said: "The day is coming soon when CHUM AM will have to say it is
'1050 CHUM-AM'" the same way we labelled CHUM-FM as "104.5 CHUM-FM" in the 60's & 70's.

Soon I will be on "NewsTalk1010.com" in your home, your car, and your hotel room in Shanghai.
Come to think of it...I'll be in your car.  That's the only one to come. "NewsTalk1010" and "680 News" will be anachronisms meaning Toronto. They will live on as well established local brand names.

Remember "local?" Chuck McCoy said it best inducting Paul Ski into the CAB Hall of Fame.  "That was when the owner was in his office in the building in St. Thomas." or something like that.  Great speeches!  Watch at YouTube
