Jack Benny on "The comedy commercial"

Back in the day,any morning show worth it's salt used parody commercials,either pre-produced,or live. Garrison Keilor did live ones on Prairie Home Companon. In Radio's Golden age, the great Jack Benny used the live commerical to great advantage,integrating them into the script of his show. Here is a short piece where he talks about the Jello spots.

I loved the surreal comedy of the Firesign Theatre who were called the Beatles of Comedy by the library of Congress. They had a number of parody commercials and some are on air checks I have on the site including a recent one played on WCMF  FM for Duke of Madness Motors "here at ther edge of the new world freeway" and it's played like a commercial in the middle of a commercial block. The fake comecial can be heard at 3:13 on the air check:
