If some of the shows you watch on your TV's built-in NetFlix APP are too dim, and for sure you don't see why there should be any need to adjust your TV's settings from show to show, then I have a good workaround.
If you're willing to sacrifice watching in UltraHD (4K), then I can solve your problem. My (old) eyes can't see any great difference between UltraHD and plain (old) HD anyways.
So;
- Login to your Netflix account on your PC.
- Navigate to < Your Account >, < My Profile >, < Playback Settings >
- Look to < Data Usage per Screen >
- Deselect "AUTO" quality (default)
- Select "Medium" quality.
- < Save >
My internet connection is ALWAYS less than 4Gig/sec as I'm on a dry DSL loop with VMedia - the cheapest I can get and want to pay for.
Even at this LOW download speed I've always been able to watch Netflix, AmazonPrime & Crave as well, except that NetFlix UltraHD shows like Grace&Frankie, Sex Education, etcetera, were way too dim. After selecting "Medium" this forces Netflix to HD1080 mode only.
I don't know about anyone else, but I need as much 'light' on any given subject as I can get
