Attendance is dropping at the movies and here is what Ang Lee is doing
Media is going through massive changes, audiences are going hither and yon for content and yes even the local movie house is losing market share...
Ang Lee is the director of the new movie Gemini Man with Will Smith...(Fresh Prince of Bel Air fame) and he is using technology to lure movie goers back in.
The techno trick is using more frames per second...can you say "mind blowing"?
For Gemini Man, Lee is once again pushing technological boundaries. The movie was captured at 120 frames a second. In Canada, it will be offered in 3D at 60 frames per second and also in 2D at the standard 24 frames per second.
My questions are this...have you noticed you don't go to the movies as often as you used too? Then part 2 is, will this type of thing used to film Gemini Man get you back in your aisle seats at Cineplex?

Sometimes it really is about what's actually playing, but a lot of the time it's about price.
How about a special fixed price?
One that grants admission, popcorn (small) and pop (small)
(both upgradable, if desired)
for a price that appears to be a great deal...better than admission plus snack bar combo currently.
How are Tuesdays doing? Always packed from what I've recently seen.
Does extending Tuesdays to a second day. (Wednesday?) simply thin out Tuesdays with the EXACT SAME number of people showing up to see a movie? Or will more people actually show up?
Sometimes people don't go because they don't like crowds (or they believe Tuesday is automatically packed because of the low admission price)
That is why a coupon in the Christmas book to make any day a Tuesday might get more people to go see a movie...(?)
