has anyone (else) noticed that . . .

. . . Cam Woolley is sounding like a man preparing to run for public office?

Well, nominations are closed for the upcoming federal election. There is no provincial or municipal elections till 2022.

Re: has anyone (else) noticed that . . .

A former news director of City TV once told me he tried to hire Cam Woolley to become a reporter for the station when he was still with the OPP. The guy was a natural if you remember his entertaining updates on what was otherwise the dull de rigeur "How's highway traffic going?" story that every station does on every long weekend. (Remember his talk about "Fred Flintstone cars"?)

For whatever reason, Woolley said no at the time and wasn't ready to leave the force. An intervention by then Chief Julian Fantino to stop his sometimes comical live reports may have led to his decision to finally leave policing altogether and it was clear he was ready-made for TV.

CP24 came calling and he took that gig. If things had worked out, he could have ended up at CHUM (now Rogers) and not Bell. But it didn't turn out that way.

It's known by many that Woolley has a side business that rents an extensive collection of vintage vehicles to movie and TV shoots. More on that here.

According to his Wikipedia entry, Woolley was seriously pondering running for the provincial Conservatives in 2007, but nothing ever came of it. So it would seem that seed had been planted a long time ago and a future in politics wouldn't be foreign to his career plans.
