Interesting video. Seems that US cable operators are run very similar to Canadian. An example is the way that they package specialty channels for a forced buy, similar to Bell, Rogers, Cogeco, Shaw etc.
There is a big difference here though, our cable operators seem to be much more into owning specialty channels/networks than most cable companies in the US.
Bell has about 35 specialty channels and networks, Corus 36, Rogers 10, CBC/RC 4. So our cable operators get the money from both ends, nice touch I would say. Millions every month in cable fees and additional gravy from all of the specialty channels. We don't have the same problem with specialty channels and networks demanding more money and pulling their signal from the cable companies since in many cases it's the same owner!
