Admittedly, this is very American, but I couldn't help but be struck by this photo essay on the importance AM radio still carries in many small communities.
I'm not entirely sure the Canadian experience is comparable. But there are probably some remote small towns in this country not really in range of an FM signal and without easy web access which also appreciate those far reaching signals provided by Amplitude Modulation.
