Honestly, when I read something like this, I just don't know what to think. It's not that the kids in this story never listen to the radio, it's that they have absolutely no idea how to use one. (You'd think a generation that could master an iPhone or an iPod at age 3 would have no trouble figuring out "on" and "off" and a single tuning dial, but I guess you never know.)
Students in ‘backward Hong Kong’ facing exam stress because they don’t know how to use a radio, survey reveals
On the other hand, what kind of an education system requires listening to the radio to pass an exam? What a strange story all the way around.
With spring (hopefully) right around the corner I purchased "D" size batteries this morning for my 1970s-era "ghetto blaster" (suitable for gardening & enjoying a couple pops on the deck). The cashier remarked "I've never seen batteries this size, what on earth are they for?"
Moral of the story: time waits for no man and very few Loblaws women

D size batteries also go into some larger flash lights. Handy if the power goes out.
