It’s not often a radio station promotes a fill-in for a regular host. But I can’t count the number of times I’ve heard CFRB announce on air (including via host references and even a 30 sec. promo) that former CBC comedian Rick Mercer will be subbing for Evan Solomon on Friday.
 
Solomon always gets that day off to prepare for his Sunday gig as host of CTV’s Question Period, and his place is usually taken by someone from CFRB. But not this week. I have no idea if this is a one time thing or how he’ll do in what is supposed to be a fairly serious talk show.
 
But to hear the hype, you’d think it was the Second Coming. (Actually, given he’s never done it before, I guess it would be the First!)
