Bell Wants You To Tell Them More About You So They Can Make More Money

One of Canada's most hated companies is openly asking you to give out more information about yourself, whether you surf their Internet services, watch their TV outlets or listen to their radio stations.

And what is your reward for surrendering such increasingly valuable personal data?

A discount? No.

Special offers? Nope.

A bundling bonus? Not that either.

No, Bell is actually solely promising you more ads tailored toward you.

That's it. Nothing else.

And in an era where Facebook and Google are increasingly under fire for selling users' private info to other companies, they actually expect people to opt into this outrageous request. Even some of the newscasters on Bell-owned CFRB are openly ridiculing the idea.

"They gain. You lose."

Should be their new slogan.

Bell asks customers for their permission to collect more personal information

You can ask me for whatever you want.
But how do you know the information I give you is even accurate?

This is my take on _any_ survey I'm asked to complete.  Unless I'm directly compensated, there's no guarantee the information I give out is accurate.

So go ahead.  Ask away.

You're right. I had to reluctantly join Facebook a few years ago to get access to certain sites for work. But I used a completely phony name and listed my birthday as 1905. Which as of this year, would make me 114.

I know some here accuse me of dwelling on the past, but I promise, I'm not quite that old!

when i receive a call from someone conducting a "survey" i always respond with "how much are you going to pay me for my information?" most often, i have to explain the fact that everyone associated with the survey is getting paid... except the people providing the information.
