There aren't many radio shows that can boast they've been on for half a century, but this week, the CBC's venerable "As It Happens" hits that milestone. They'll be celebrating with a special marking "some of the most astonishing, heartbreaking and strange moments," according to a press release.
That same document indicates the program has had 13 hosts, has pulled off 13,000 episodes and has conducted at least 91,000 interviews.
It airs Friday at 6:30 PM, and it will be online afterwards.

Thanks RadioActive, I grew up listening to "As It Happens" and it, along with "Under The Influence" "White Coat, Black Art" " Sunday Edition" "Quirks and Quarks" and a few other shows, keeps me coming back to the Mother Ship for some great radio.
The multitude of "As It Happens" iconic hosts alone will make the special special, so to speak, and well worth listening to.
