Radio Supports Remembrance Day

The Royal Canadian Legion is already starting to tweet reminders to pick up a poppy for Remembrance Day.

Last year there was a discussion on the big yellow board on ways radio stations, and the media in general could support our veterans, and encourage people to buy and wear a poppy.

Someone suggested that a radio show could do a remote from where there's a veteran selling the poppies, say in a shopping mall like the Eaton's Centre, and/or do a short news story or three.

If nothing else, a listing on every radio station website of where we can buy a poppy, and having the hosts occasionally mention these locations on-air in the lead up to November 11th would be wonderful. Just an idea.

Re: Radio Supports Remembrance Day

The R.C.L. official 2018 Poppy Campaign began this morning.  [always on the last Friday of October]  Poppies can be worn 'til 'end of service' on the morning of Sunday November 11th.  At that point they should be removed and either deposited at the foot of the cenotaph as an act of remembrance or pocketed.

On behalf of the fallen, all veterans, their spouses and families the Royal Canadian Legion thanks you.

At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, we will remember them.

We will remember them.
