CFRB On HD

There was an odd moment on CFRB’s John Moore morning show Friday that got my attention. Sometime after 7 AM, Moore made reference to HD radio, which he otherwise never does, and then commented that NT1010 was broadcasting in that mode. He also noted that the signal sounded better than the current AM signal and he thought it might appeal to people who spend a lot of their work day in their cars, because of the better quality sound.

What he most pointedly did not say was where those with HD radio capabilities could actually tune it in. It pointed out the differences between Bell’s approach to this alternate way of broadcasting and Corus. The latter frequently touts its HD signal on AM 640, explaining what it is, why it exists and where it can be found.

And yet Bell almost never gives out whatever HD signals it has on its airwaves. Odd. You’d think if they’re going to bother, they’d want listeners to know.

Re: CFRB On HD

I wonder if, given the false start with using 104.5 as their HD carrier, they're letting the 99.9 setup run for a bit before committing to promoting it.
