    Vern Furber -- R.I.P.

    Sorry to report the passing of Warren "Vern" Furber. 

    Vern was 83.

    He began his broadcast career In Barrie early 60s & eventually bought 1570 CHLO in St. Thomas in the early 80s.

    On the t.v. side Vern was involved with Romper Room --- The Galloping Gourmet & Swiss Family Robinson

    He also had a stint in the front offices of C.K.O. radio

    Worked 'til the age of 78 operating his own restaurant in Port Stanley when he finally retired.

    He passed on Thursday in hospital in St. Thomas

    Worked with Vern flipping the iconic CHLO to CFHK-FM the Hawk ...a wonderful guy with a great sense of humour....a true mentor to many. Sorry I missed connecting with him in the past few months. Sympathies to his family.
