A fascinating fracture at the Toronto Star became very public and very ugly Thursday, when one of its senior reporters abruptly resigned, alleging the paper refused to publish a damning story about the Conservatives. This prompted a strong and rare response from the paper's publisher, adamantly denying now ex-scribe Paul Watson's contentions. The Star not publishing something anti-Conservative? Doesn't seem possible, but stranger things have happened, I guess.
First, the story from an interested bystander and competitor:
National Post: Pulitzer-winning journalist Paul Watson quits Toronto Star over ‘refusal to publish’ story on Franklin expedition
Paul Watson's explanation:
Why I resigned from the Star

One thing seems certain: I'm pretty sure we haven't heard the last of this one.
