For a few years now, I’ve often asked here why CFTO doesn’t take more advantage of CP24 reporters. They’re the same company, after all, and now they’re even in the same building. Some speculated it was contractual and maybe they were right. But whatever the reason, the news tide seems to have turned. And for the better.
 
In the past few weeks, I’ve seen a ton of 24-types turn up on the main network channel. People like Beatrice Vaisman, Melissa Duggan and most especially former cop-turned-reporter Steve Ryan, who seems to be the lead on almost every CFTO noon news show. He turned up again on the 6 PM edition Wednesday. Not to mention meteorologist Bill Coulter filling in for a vacationing Lindsay Morrison with a pre-taped weather report on the noon and 6 shows that was very welcome.
 
This makes a lot of sense and I hope they keep it up. Those people are already working there and are in the field. They don’t exactly have a ton of reporters on the CFTO side anymore. Why not make use of the staff that are already out filing stories?
