It was a stunning announcement. Not long after an election toppled a government seen as hardline, a Serbian state TV broadcaster went on the air with an apology to viewers for not properly covering the news.
"RTV opened its evening bulletin with footage of Student List supporters celebrating their election victory, scenes the broadcaster had omitted from its coverage the previous night. 'We kept silent, turned a blind eye, reported events one-sidedly, and failed to ask the necessary questions,' (anchor Goran) Eror said, according to Serbian newspaper Vreme. 'For that, we owe our viewers an apology.'
The presenter explained that some RTV employees had fought for journalists and editors to work freely under professional standards but had been unable to secure those changes in time. RTV clarified that the apology reflected the position of some staff members, rather than a statement endorsed by every employee."
The statement was followed by the resignation of the editor-in-chief. It's a rare moment of freedom in a country that for too long hasn't had enough of it.
For all the claims of bias against certain TV networks and newspapers in Canada, if nothing else, it kind of makes you appreciate what we have here. Fox News notwithstanding.

CBC News notwithstanding.
On October 8th lawyers for the CBC acknowledged in a defamation suit that published reporting regarding a BC conservative political candidate, including some headlines, were "not true".
They categorized it as 'fair comment' which in Canada protects opinion on matters of public interest. There is a legal precedent for that. Keep in mind in this case it is reporting we are talking about here.
Justice Lorena Harris will decide.

While eastern european broadcasters become more nutral and normal, our public broadcasters in the west are picking political sides and going far-left and loony.
Ireland is boycoting eurovision because Isreal's in it, and the bbc has islamists on staff.
The cbc did'nt want to call 9/11 a tarorist atack to baby the islamists, and more loonicy here in the west.
Its good the people of serbia and RTS are smart.
Hope RTS and duna in hungary don't cater to islamists with there restructuring.

Canada has a sizable serbian community.
How will chin report on its serbian program?
We won't know because most of us on this bord don't understand serbian.
I can pick out a few words that sound simular to english, but unless ravna gora reports in serbian then english, we won't know.
I also think RTS sat is available for frea here, and so are its radio stations.
All of serbia's radio stations are not geoblocked here, and some air english-language music content, and 1, radio s does insert some english words when hosts speak.
But, for us on this bord, I don't know if rts sat has an english-language program to keep track of the restructuring of its tv and radio reporting.
