Some Odd & Historic CFRB Ads

When a station has been around since 1927, it's been witness to a lot of history. Here are several examples of CFRB ads over the years, some plain speaking, others just weird. You can judge which is which.

This Means War! (1942)
This ad came during WWII, appealing to advertisers who otherwise might be forgotten. Notice the frequency: 860 AM.

A Quizzical Look (1948 & 1949)
Before they were music and later news/talk, CFRB offered a lot of game shows and other entertainment from what is now called "Old Time Radio."

What Do The Call Letters "CFRB" Stand For? (1947)
And you thought it was Canada's First Rogers Batteryless.

Is This Ad Racist? (1944)
Things were very different back then.

When AM Stereo Hit 1010 (1989)
Remember when it came out of both sides of your speakers?

Some Good Sports (1990)
Remember when radio stations not only had fulltime newscasters but also a team of sports reporters?

The Line-Up For Listeners (1986)
And finally, a look back at the station's line-up in the mid-80s.

Re: Some Odd & Historic CFRB Ads

No mention of the 'Speak now or forever hold your peace" campaign against queer marriage?
