He's been gone since April 2023, but former CHFI & CKFM morning host Don Daynard has been honoured at least one last time as the Radio Television Digital News Association revealed its annual list of honourees. "Dazzling Don" got the nod for Lifetime Achievement Award posthumously, and it's a shame he wasn't here to get it while he was still with us.
Other award winners from this area include a veteran CHCH cameraman, CP24's Ontario election coverage, CTV and CBC Toronto, and CTV News Barrie.
And in perhaps an irony that can't be ignored, NewsRadio570, CKGL Kitchener, got a nod for Best Newscast In A Small or Medium Market for its 8 AM newscast. Too bad they'll never be able to tell their listeners about it, after Rogers shut the place down earlier this year.
You can see the list of winners from this area here.

Did I miss something here. It looks like most of the awards went to CBC, and nothing to Corus, a few to Bell Media and even 1 to Rogers Cable.

This doesn't really surprise me. The CBC and CTV are the only ones left with large enough news staffs left intact to actually do prize worthy segments.
Corus is in full cutback mode all the time, which may explain why Global wasn't very well represented. Certainly their radio stations in this part of the country don't do any reports worthy of mention and they barely even have any news, with a fair amount coming from The Canadian Press.
Still I love the fact CKGL was a winner - and Rogers can't really boast about it, if they were ever going to.

IMO Global Toronto news is on par with local CTV and CBC Toronto. I have noticed that Global has decent on air people for news and that can't always be said for CTV or CBC. Some of the anchors on CTV News Channel and CBC News Network are lousy interviewers and don't actually seem confident reading news. Global National is also well done overall with strong anchors and reporters.
