Have you ever used a "pillow speaker?" It's a device that plugs into the earphone jack of any radio, slips under your pillow, and allows you to listen to anything you want without disturbing anyone else in your house - or your bed.
I bought one years ago from RadioWorld and it still works great. It comes with a volume control and a small speaker that tucks under your pillow, which you can lie on and hear everything perfectly, but the other people in your house can't. And they're a lot more comfortable at night than earbuds.
I've used mine for decades (although the price has predictably gone up over the years) and there are various makes and models to choose from, although I like the Sangean from RadioWorld.
I was surprised last night to realize how often I use it and it's become part of a daily - or in this case nightly - ritual. I couldn't believe how few people I asked had ever heard of them.

I had one years ago but it wasn’t as nice as the one shown here, for starters, it didn’t have a volume control, I used the radio’s volume dial, and it was an odd fleshy colour, not nearly as presentable as yours RA, but it did the trick! I would wake up and have to turn it off pretty much every night, my radio didn’t have the “sleep” function, I was cheap!

Radio Shack sold these about 40 years ago. I have the Sangean but the cord is in need of repair. It's on my to-do list.

I’ve had one in some form or another for as long as I can remember.
Currently use a wireless Bluetooth model that lays almost completely flat. I like that it has a sleep timer and some built in sounds like white noise, rain, etc.
My wife uses a sleep mask with speakers built in to the band.

I still have the one that I bought at Radio Shack in the late 1970s, and it still works. Did a search and found this listing for it.

They are great. I have been using one for 35 years. Great for late-night sports.

I have one of these and use it every night. I've been falling asleep listening to the radio since I was 6.
