Is This Contest A Good Look For AM640?
AM640 is running a contest that gives away tickets to a Metallica concert next June 8th, a long time from now..
The problem?
The show is at Highmark Stadium in Buffalo.
It comes at a time when many Canadians are refusing to cross the border, as the trade war escalates between this country and the U.S.
Is this a big deal or just a weird anomaly? Does it matter that they're forcing the winners to cross the border? I suppose it could be argued if you don't want to go, don't enter. Or that maybe the hostilities will be over by next summer. But it's definitely something to think about at a tense time between the two countries.
Needless to say, they don't mention anything about this on air. In a time of increased sensitivity, does it matter?

Sounds like a Q107 spill over, likely pooling between the stations for the same ticket supplier. Client involved and likely not willing to lose the buy especially right now with Corus in the state it's in. Hardcore fans will still go regardless of it being in Buffalo. Image wise it doesn't look great.. but when you are holding on by a string do what you can to keep the lights on.
Let us not forget with the transmitter site being up for sale, 640 has a short life ahead of them once sold.

This is extremely poor form for a Canadian radio station considering the current situation between Canada and the US. Remember, their leader wants to destroy our economy and annex our country, (thankfully he’s not too bright, look at his potash screw up this week).
I get offended when Canadian airlines advertise seat sales to our former ally, so this radio contest crosses a line for me. I’ve already cancelled two trips south in the last 18 months, went to the UK instead, much better choice.
