I actually remember this story when it happened. And it's still pretty frightening. It was 1987. A mentally ill man somehow convinced security at a Los Angeles TV station to let him into the premises. He made his way to the studio, where David Horowitz, of "Fight Back" fame, was live on air in the middle of a story. 

The man slowly crept into camera frame, put a gun in Horowitz's back, handed him a piece of paper and told him, "If you don't read this, I'll shoot you." 

Horowitz remained as calm as he could and proceeded to do what he was told, launching into a rambling statement about computers and brainwashing. 

In the video below, his daughter rerolls that footage, recalls that chilling day and how it ended, and the way Horowitz did not, thankfully, "Fight Back." It's truly an amazing story that, given the level of security that's increased in most media outlets since 9/11, is unlikely to happen again.
