Next Year's Emmys May Not Be On Broadcast TV For The 1st Time Ever

Variety is reporting that the one TV show of the year that honours the best in broadcasting may not even be on broadcast TV any more come next year. The irony is palpable, but like many sports events, a streamer is hoping to show the awards program in 2027 and beyond.

Amazon Prime is looking to secure the rights to the annual Emmy Awards, which has rotated among the Big 3 over-the-air networks for decades.

Another sign that the TV most of us grew up watching is becoming a thing of the past. And maybe it's only appropriate - very few network shows are even nominated for an Emmy now, let alone win one.
