Like Son, Like Father - Joe Bowen's Kid The New Voice Of The Marlies
The guy taking the place of the now retired Joe Bowen, Todd Crocker, is moving into the Leafs broadcast booth this coming season doing most of the NHL team's games. He used to be the voice of the Marlies.
But in a chain that seems unbroken, the guy replacing Crocker for the Leafs' local farm team is none other than David Bowen - Joe's 25-year-old son and the former play-by-play voice of the OHL Sudbury Wolves, the same team where his dad started his radio career. You can't get more full circle than that.
But that's not the only surprising news that came out on Monday. Guess who will be spelling Bowen for some Marlies games this year? It's another familiar voice.
"Ben Shulman, son of Blue Jays broadcaster Dan and a member of the Jays’ platform, will split remaining Marlies games with the bilingual Matt Cullen, who has worked for the Ottawa Senators and the CBC. "

This article states that Bowen's son will also continue to be the voice of the Sudbury Wolves. I don't know a lot about the minor hockey leagues, but how will he ever find the time? What happens if game nights overlap?
