It's been on the docket in the U.S for what feels like years: a bill that would make it mandatory for all cars in that country to be equipped with an AM radio. 

As many here know, some automakers (especially electric vehicle manufacturers, who say there's too much engine interference to put AM in their models) have been selling cars with FM only - and sometimes, not even that. The AM Radio For Every Vehicle Act would force them to include the fading band in all their models, whether buyers want it or not. 

This vote has been the focus of a massive lobbying campaign by the National Association of Broadcasters, among others, who know that if AM is removed from autos, that could spell the end for an already troubled radio industry. 

The long delayed and long awaited vote appears ready to finally happen during the week of Sept. 14th, and if it passes, I'm guessing that - even with our countries at loggerheads over trade - if they keep AM, we will, too. 

It's a date to keep an eye out for that may determine once and for all if AM still gets to sign on for a little while longer.
