What do you do when a song that made you world famous gets played on the radio so often, you can't stand hearing it anymore? You make a big donation if the radio station agrees to keep it off the air. 

That's the incredible thing that Led Zeppelin's Robert Plant did, after he got so sick of hearing progressive rock staple "Stairway To Heaven" being played over and over and over, that he actually gave money to have it stopped. 

It involved a community radio station in Oregon, a funding drive and a talented musician in the right place at the wrong time. Or vice versa, depending on how you look at it.

“The guy came on saying they were looking for sponsorships: ‘Please send in $10’ or whatever, and if people in the area did that, KBOO would promise never to play ‘Stairway to Heaven,’” Plant explained. “So I called him up and pledged my money. I was one of the KBOO sponsors.”
