His biggest hit was Palisades Park in 1962...

That's sad. Palisades Park is a great timeless classic.

Palisades Park has an interesting history. The guy who wrote the song is a name you might know – he ended up as a TV producer, and author and oh yeah, the host of an outrageous game show. You probably remember him – Chuck Barris of The Gong Show fame. He also created The Dating Game for ABC.
 
Cannon’s great hit “Where The Action Is,” was the name of a weekday afternoon Dick Clark-produced show on ABC, and Cannon’s tune was its theme song. Paul Revere & The Raiders were regulars on the show and even did some comic bits.
 
If memory serves, it often took place on a beach.  It ran from 1965-1967 and I used to watch it all the time after school.

Had the pleasure of interviewing Freddy one time when he came through Southern Ontario on one of those Rock Revival tours.  He was fun, funny , interesting and had all the time in the world to talk. Just a very nice guy. R.I.P.
