Hearing Loss For On-Air Hosts - Including CFRB's John Moore

Ever been on-air? How loud did you keep those headphones? For some longtime radio hosts, it's a question they wished they'd asked when they were younger. There's a temptation to turn the music up on those cans to ear splitting levels, and for some that's led to hearing loss later in life.

On Wednesday, longtime CFRB morning host John Moore admitted in a cross over with Jerry Agar that he was getting fitted for a new hearing aid, after years of listening to his own output at top volume.

Agar responded that he wsn't surprised, noting that when he comes into the studio after Moore and puts on those headphones, it's like an electric shock, because the volume is up so high.

I wonder if there are any here who think a lifetime of high headphone volume has led to their own hearing issues.

It's a hazard of the business many don't think about until it's too late.
